Ginko

Privacy Policy

Ginko is a mail app for macOS that connects to your Gmail account. This policy explains what Ginko accesses, what it does with it, and what it does not do. Ginko is developed by Peter Markuška, contact markus48@gmail.com.

What Ginko accesses

When you sign in with Google, you allow Ginko these permissions:

• Gmail (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.modify): to read your messages, threads, labels, drafts and attachments; to send mail you write in Ginko; to save your drafts; and to archive, delete, label, star and mark messages as read or unread when you ask it to.
• Your email address (openid, email): to show which account is signed in.

How Ginko uses it

Ginko uses your Gmail data only to provide the app's features to you: showing your mail, searching it, reading it aloud on request, and carrying out the actions you take. Ginko does not use your data for advertising, does not build profiles, does not sell or rent it, and does not use it to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

Where it is stored

• Messages and labels you view are cached only on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/Ginko, so they open quickly and can be read offline. Downloaded attachments are cached in ~/Library/Caches/Ginko. Both stay within the size limit you set in Ginko's settings.
• Your Google sign-in tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac.
• Reading aloud uses the speech voices built into macOS, on your Mac.

What Ginko does not do

• Ginko has no server. Your mail travels only between your Mac and Google, over encrypted HTTPS connections.
• Ginko does not share your data with the developer or any third party.
• Ginko contains no analytics, advertising or tracking. Diagnostics shown in its settings stay on your Mac.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Ginko's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Keeping or deleting your data

• Sign out in Ginko (Settings › Account › Sign Out) to delete Ginko's local copy of your mail, its downloaded attachments and your sign-in tokens from your Mac, and to revoke Ginko's access at Google.
• You can also remove Ginko's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
• Deleting the Ginko app does not change anything in your Gmail account.

Children

Ginko is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
